ArtistDirect intervista alcuni artisti sugli A7X

ArtistDirect ha intervistato alcuni artisti chiedendo loro di parlare degli Avenged Sevenfold e di Hail to the king

Slash: I’ve got a funny story about this actually. I had never met M. Shadows until we recorded “Nothing to Say” for my first solo album. I’ve always thought Avenged Sevenfold was a great modern heavy metal band, and I had put together this real heavy metal song. I’ve been writing stuff like that forever, but I hadn’t had the chance to use it until then. When we were doing “Nothing to Say”, his name came up. It turned out he’s a really big old school Guns N’ Roses fan—which was actually sort of unnerving [Laughs]. He really worked his ass off getting it together. It was so much fun though. He came in and sang the shit out of it, and it was really a great experience. It was all thrash metal, but it had fucking tons of attitude and it was real aggressive. I always wanted to do something like that, and he helped make it happen. I love him and the whole band!
Fieldy: They’ve got a killer old school metal sound, and they’re awesome guys. I love hanging with them, and I’m always stoked to hear what they’ve got cooking musically.
Chris Jericho: Back in 2005, I heard “Bat Country” on the radio, and I thought it was such an original, cool tune. I thought, “This is like Skid Row combined with The Ramones combined with Guns N’ Roses”. No one was really doing that at the time. The vocals were great. I like good vocals. I like guys who actually sing. Avenged Sevenfold had a lot of back harmonies and things like that on City of Evil. I really got to know them when my friend Mike Portnoy joined them for Nightmare. That’s when I met the guys and got close with the band. When Mike left, I was really good friends with them—especially with M. Shadows. We went on from there. I was a huge fan of theirs before I met them. When I met them, I became even more of a fan. I love “Hail to the King”. The song is incredible. It’s cool how they switched to a more groove-oriented style.
J-Dog: They’re such great guys. We’ve toured with them twice. The first time was with Stone Sour as well and the second was with Asking Alexandria and Black Veil Brides. Watching them every night was crazy, because they’re so fucking good. I really liked Nightmare, and I dig the new song “Hail to the King”. I’m sure the record will be awesome.
MGK: The first time I experienced Avenged Sevenfold was when I heard those fucking magical chords of “Unholy Confessions”. It’s nuts how good it is. I actually have an Avenged Sevenfold tattoo. I have the death bat on my wrist. My favorite record is probably “So Far Away”. It’s the song they wrote for Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. M. Shadows isn’t just a metal singer though. In my honest opinion, he’s one of the greatest lead vocalists since Axl Rose. The way he works his voice in “Save Me” is amazing. I actually recorded that personally. I flew out to his house. It was just me and him in the studio. I got to record that shit live with no music. I got to hear how ear-piercing it was. I’m just glad that was how we started the album.
David Draiman: I love Avenged Sevenfold. I’ve had the pleasure of touring with them on a few occasions, and they’re a great heavy metal band. It was awesome that M. Shadows and I collaborated on “Haze” from Device’s debut. I sent the him the completed song, and I said what I had in mind for him to do. I wanted him to take the second verse and second chorus and for us to finish the song together. He loved it. It’s another great experience I’ve had working with those guys.
Ivan Moody: They’re one of the biggest bands on the earth, and they’re amazing at what they do. We did 48 Hrs. Festival in Las Vegas together right outside of Mandalay Bay, and it was killer. It’s awesome touring Europe with them. We’re all metal. We’re also doing Aftershock with them, and it’s going to be massive.
John Boecklin: I always really liked City of Evil. There’s some tasty grooves on it and solid hooks. The new song is cool too. I look forward to hearing more.

E di seguito la traduzione:

Slash:
In quel momento li ho conosciuti e avvicinati. Amo Hail to the king.
Mi è piaciuto molto Nightmare, e ho sentito la nuova canzone Hail to the king. Sono sicuro che l’album sarà fantastico.
MGK:
Attualmente l’ho registrata personalmente. Sono andato a casa sua. Eravamo solo lui e io in studio.
David Draiman: (Device & Disturbed):
Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch)
John Boecklin (DevilDriver)
Mi è sempre piaciuta City Of Evil.
