Tempo di bilanci per l’anno appena terminato anche per la band.
Ecco il loro riassunto del 2014 pubblicato su fb. Traduzione sul forum
2014 is now officially over and it is about time to look forward to 2015. Before we do that though, we wanted to give you a recap of our year. We started off 2014 by playing Soundwave over in Australia. We were able to take the stage every day with our friends in Green Day, Korn, Rob Zombie, Trivium and many others. It was great to finally get to play this festival after all we had heard about it. Also, the weather over there makes touring pretty awesome. Next we headed down to South America and played shows all over the continent for some of our most passionate fans. We finished up that run in Mexico City where we filmed part of our upcoming DVD. We even made the “This Means War” video out of outtakes from that show.
Next up was the “Shepherd of Fire” tour with our friends in Adrenaline Mob and Hell Yeah. We headed up to Canada and were able to play some new cities such as Moose Jaw, Dawson Creek and Prince George. The passion in these small cities was amazing for rock n roll. After Canada we rounded out the tour in the United States.
Europe was next on the agenda and it ended up being by far the best time we have ever had over there. We were able to play Poland for the first time which was quite fun. We have been getting emails and notes from the people in Poland for what seems like forever so it was nice to finally see their faces. Next was Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany. These are legendary festivals in Germany and we had the honor of playing just before Metallica to an audience of over 180k people between the two shows. Germany has been showing Sevenfold the love and we can’t wait to get back!
We played many shows in our career but nothing compares to being asked to headline “Download Festival” in England. This is hallowed ground for us and many other rock and metal bands. The reality is that without the fans vocal support of us getting a shot then it never would have happened. We thank you for that and we feel it wasn’t only a victory for us but for all of the Avenged Sevenfold fans in England and around the world. Not many new bands get a chance on that stage and you knocked it out of the park!
Next we played with Aerosmith at Hellfest in France and then headlined Graspop in Belgium. In between these shows it was great to stop in Scandinavia, Austria and Czech Republic. Europe was our most successful tour yet so thanks to everyone who made it possible.
Mayhem Festival was next on the agenda. It was absolutely insane. The shows broke records for the most attendance in the history of the festival. Our home show in San Bernardino had 27k people alone. This was huge for us and another reminder as to why we love Southern California. After the Mayhem Festival we flew to Japan for the Summersonic Festival where we were able to play with thrash legends Megadeth for the first time. All around this was just a great way to end out the touring. All in all we played 77 shows around the world in 2014 and we enjoyed every single one of them.
In August we were also able to re-release “Waking the Fallen” after 11 years. It’s remarkable how fast the time can go by. We remember writing that album fresh out of high school and releasing it to sales of 3000 copies. At the time of the re-release, that album was well on it’s way to surpassing 1 million copies sold in the United States. We aren’t sure how that happened but it was great to be able to revisit this album and give some of the newer A7X family something to listen to. Also this year, we released our first mobile video game. This game was made by us for the fans of A7X and the mobile RPG genre. The game was localized in 9 different languages and we have seen it’s own community build.
All in all this was an amazing year and the bottom line is all of this stops without you. Sure, we would still be making music because we love it but when you have a worldwide family such as ours it makes it exciting for us to get up everyday and travel the globe to play it live for you. Our next stop is Asia and after that we will be laying the groundwork for the next chapter of A7X. There is no rest for the wicked! So, with all that being said we wish you and your families health and happiness and a Happy New Year.
